Verdines

A new found love for Verdines, on today’s plate is the Curry Butternut Squash. First of all, I’m finding myself really into Indian food these days. Took me a while to get on the wagon but, I’m finally on! Anyway, the flavors in this dish were excellent. The butternut squash I was so so about, but overall it was tasty and satisfying. I’ve never eaten the outer skin of a squash, it was a little tough and I prefer skipping that part. Anyway, Verdines always changes their menu so next time I’m sure they’ll be something new that I get to try. Can’t wait!

Kin Dee Thai

The latest new thing in the Heights, Kin Dee. The interior is a modern Thai look, but more subtle in colors. It feels pretty casual inside, I was lucky they had plenty of substitute dishes for their regular menu items. I ordered the Fried Rice, vegan option. I must say the fried rice was pretty good. That’s about it, I don’t have much else to say, I would definitely come back for the at fried rice!

Spick And Span Trash Cans

7 years later, finally getting our can cleaned!

Now that we have this service, I don’t know how we made it so long without it! It’s so clean and smells wonderful. If you think after one clean it should be good, but it’s amazing how quickly it’ll smell again. We have the quarterly subscription of $42, well worth it!

Verdines

My second try at Verdines, this time a success! My first time here I can say, incidentally, was terrible. It might have been the worst combination of ingredients between the veggies and sour dressing. I just couldn’t eat it. However, I was not on a plant based diet, which I am now. So, since there aren’t very many vegan restaurants, it’s where our first destination since the coronavirus is today. I am more than happy to return, today was a good day at Verdines! I decided to take my husband to Verdines for his birthday, it was a good decision. He ordered the jackfruit burger and I got the Tofu Coconut bowl. We were both very happy with our choices. I think my Tofu Coconut bowl was perfect. I think he agreed my dish was better than his. Quinoa, tofu, coconut milk…how can you go wrong! Now, I’m realizing that first visit was just one of those mishaps. I can’t wait to go back and try some other interesting things I saw on the menu. The vegan restaurants is really and untapped market. There really needs and should be more, fingers crossed!

Saint Arnold’s Brewery

I can’t believe I’ve never been to this outdoor area at Saint Arnold’s Brewery. I loved it! What a really great venue…so festive and fun, I feel relaxed already! Great kid friendly place, but tonight it’s our date night spot…very conducive for some relaxed conversation and catching up. I definitely recommend for groups and families.

Teahouse in the Heights

I happen to be driving by today and decide to try the new location…by the way this is my favorite bubble tea business. I typically go to the Memorial location across from Starbucks, which I used to go regularly but since having children I just haven’t gone in a while. So today, I decide I’m in the mood for one and stop in this new location. It’s not bad, interior is pleasant and cute. I order my drink and…color seems off but flavor is exactly the same…yummy. But, I did think the tapioca balls were exceptionally hard. That’s one thing with the Teahouse, their tapioca balls are nice and soft. As a matter of fact when I was leaving and getting back into my vehicle, I noticed an almost full drink sitting on the ground next to my wheels with tapioca balls spat out on the concrete…hm…maybe that was a concensus about the balls. Anyway, they just opened so hopefully they get it right. I’m sure they will.

Trying Gus’s “World Famous” Fried Chicken

A random and brief glance over at this restaurant led to tonight’s craving for fried chicken. The boys seem to like it but it was hard for me to tell coming off the flu. The chicken skin seemed extremely tough but the flavors I have to hold off on commenting. The coleslaw, Mac & cheese, fried okra and pickles had good texture, but again I’d have to hold off on commenting. It’s weird I’m even blogging since I’m not really contributing much. It was exposure to Gus’s so I felt like I should have said something…until next time…

Breakfast with the Boys at Coco's Crepes

Always looking for a good breakfast spot to take the boys. Today we’re late so no big elaborate breakfast, which we never get to do anyway because we’re always running behind…so on our way to our activities when we happen to pass by Coco’s Crepes and I see it’s pretty empty inside so let’s go run inside and get a quick bite, hopefully. Thankfully they were quite accommodating, however the “kid’s waffles” (first picture) which ends up being $3.50 is only about 1/4 of a waffle, seems kind of pricey for what it is. The kids do finish it. I get the breakfast crepe which was heavier than I like to go. But everyone was very nice and I like how empty it was, so the boys got to be loud and we appreciated the games they had there for the kids. We’ll have to try something else for eats next time. Definitely a thumbs up for family friendliness.

Breakfast at Common Bond Heights

IMG_8176.jpeg

Yes, they have upped their yogurt parfait game, but I am disappointed they will not make my Chef’s Scramble with egg whites and they don’t have the Egg on a Roll, so this yogurt is all I end up eating. Atmosphere is nice, but I’m not liking the food options at this location…blah.

That Chocolate Cake

IMG_8028.jpeg

Is no lie DA BOMB! I mean Edie the sales manager at Treebeards said it was really good, “homemade”, she said and I just looked at her like 😏 and she was so sure I’d be convinced she gave me a slice that didn’t cut well for free…seriously, it was so good. Very moist and chocolates, so so good, no lie!
